Cherishing an Abundant Life

It is said that you can have too much of a good thing, but can you can have too much of the best thing? Can you have too much of being alive? We’re talking about more than merely having a pulse. What is better than living life to its fullest? Breathing in fresh air and enjoying the beauty of Creation – scents of spring flowers, warm breezes on your skin, music that makes your heart soar, your favorite tasty treats, and exquisite panoramas.  Even more than that, how about getting a hug when you need it, encouraging someone when they’re down, and making a positive difference in another person’s life? And these are just some samples of living an abundant life.

Behind everything that Jesus said and did was His fervent commitment to give people abundant life. “I have come, Jesus said, “that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  Aren’t there many things in this world that threaten life?  Yes, and Jesus dealt decisively with all of them. At the same time, He offers us exactly what we need for life – comparing it to water that will become a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.

Our goal at Gift of God is to drink deeply of this living water and share it with others. The key to that is spending time in God’s Word.  In the Bible we can learn how to enjoy a truly abundant life – even in this world the way it is. We also learn that it consists of things far more meaningful than what the world values.

In order to have the abundant life Jesus offers, we delve into the Scriptures in our worship and classes.  In Christ we can begin to experience it here and now, and we look forward to when we can enjoy it fully – together – forever – in heaven!

Sermons

Below are some meditations on God’s Word from our worship services.

By spending time in God’s Word we learn about who God is, who we are, that He loves us very much, how He saves us, and how we can have an abundant life no matter our circumstances.

We join the Apostle Peter and say to Jesus: “You have the words of eternal life!”
